Meltem II program, the contract of which became effective in September 2002, is a systems integration program, covering the acquirement of Maritime Patrol/Surveillance capability for the nine CN-235 platforms, produced at TAI’s facilities for the Turkish Naval Forces and Coast Guard Commands.

Under the program, the prime contractor of which is THALES Airborne Systems (TAS), TAI acts as the subcontractor responsible for assembly of important parts on the aircraft.

Within the framework of the program, design of electrical power distribution and management system, as well as cabin furnishing and lighting system of mission systems are realized by TAI. Moreover, our Company is also responsible for all required detail parts, harness, tools manufacturing, technical documentation and training.

The first aircraft, the modification activities of which had started in January 2005, following the completion of “Flight Physics” configuration in regard with aerodynamic tests, successfully realized its first test flight on June 18, 2007.

The successful realization of the first flight test, which is one of the major milestones of the program, is believed to be an important step for the future phases of the program.

As TAI’s design will be accepted by the program’s certification/qualification authority French DGA Institution, it is of vital importance that the design is compatible with the program and certification/qualification requirements and it is properly documented.
